The past four years have been a whirlwind for SecurSpace as the business model has proved even more valuable than our cofounders dreamed. As marketplace became a staple for trucking companies across the country, during one of the biggest shipping booms in history, we also went through two acquisitions and quadrupled the size of our, still lean but mighty, team.
As the dust settled and shipping volumes slowed, it gave us the opportunity to take a step back and evaluate what makes our marketplace so important to our users. We walked through the site as a team and took notes on every piece we thought needed an overhaul, along with collecting feedback on what our customers and partners love about our site, and what they didn't love so much.
Over the last several months we've been working non-stop on platform upgrades, new features, and adding a new look to our website and marketing initiatives. We are thrilled to announce the first of many new-feature rollouts.
New Features
Text Messaging
What keeps us such a valuable tool for folks working in the supply chain and logistics arenas is how we are able to connect our customers and partners whenever they need secure truck parking.
Where this can get a little tricky is when a customer puts in a reservation request for one of our featured yards that requires approval from the listing partner. If a request is submitted to a yard that requires approval, and the partner doesn't see the request within 30 minutes, the booking will auto-decline. This is meant to allow the customer another chance to resubmit the request or book space with another listing partner when they are short on time, but if a partner misses the request this turns into lost revenue for them and frustration for customers that rely on SecurSpace as their main source of on-demand truck parking options.
To bring down the number of timed-out auto-declines, we have added a text messaging feature that allows the location manager to receive text messages when space is requested at their yard.
Here's a quick video that shows how partners can opt-in to our new text messaging feature for each of their locations:
Service Charges
One of the marquee SecurSpace service features for our partners is never having to worry about invoicing and tracking down payment because that all happens in the platform.
Since truck and container parking isn't the only service SecurSpace partners offer, we've had many of our partners ask if they can offer their other services to their customers because of the ease of charging, invoicing, and collecting payment through the SecurSpace.
You can now charge for these services through the platform:
- Lift Fees
- Gate Fees
- Valet/Moving Fee
- Transloading
- Container Freight Stabilization
- Drayage
- EV Charging
- Maintenance & Repair
1 From the All Bookings page, click the three dots on the Booking record, select Charge Service Fee.
2 Select the service you want to charge for from the dropdown menu.
3 Fill in the pricing information, and if you choose to do so, the local sales tax percentage. That's it! Payment will be received as usual through the partner payout process.
More to Come
The SecurSpace team is excited to share these new improvements but we also want to let our users know we are committed to continuing to grow and improve the marketplace. In the coming months you will continue to see new features added, a website facelift, and there are also new service offerings on the horizon.
We want to thank all of our users for their support. Never hesitate to let us know what improvements you would like to see made and how we can best serve you and your operation.
