Items need a transport system to get them from point A to point B. What frequently gets overlooked is what happens in the line between these points and the challenges faced with getting every shipping container, truck, and trailer to their final destination. As many trucking companies know, finding yard space, no matter what equipment you’re parking or storing, is not always easy. Of course, location and price are at the top of the list of factors to consider, but they are not the only ones. Hours of operation, security, and yard quality (surface, etc.), among others, also come into play when making a choice. Common sense would suggest that these factors should dictate the price, but that’s not always the case. We’ve found many instances where a trucking company is paying up to twice as much as another, at a nearly identical yard, on the same street! Since the standard has always been to reach out to who you know, without a true marketplace to weigh options, nobody knows if they are truly getting the best deal. ## Technology Meets Trucking Great things are built out of necessity, (looking at you, Snuggie), and a marketplace that makes it possible to list and book parking space for freight companies is a crucial tool to avoid penalties at ports, accurately budget to maximize revenue, and ensure on-time delivery, is undeniably game-changing. Launched in 2018, [SecurSpace](https://secur.space/) was the first marketplace of its kind to rip open the supply-chain curtain to give customers the ability to search, book, and pay for secure truck parking through one platform. The serendipitous relationship between our customers who are looking for space, and our partners who list their space on our platform, has opened a world of opportunity to an industry that was traditionally built on in-person relationships and handshakes. [It has also bolstered new ways of tackling the issues with warehouse capacity by transitioning to a "warehouse on wheels" business model.](https://www.marketplace.org/2022/11/16/with-warehouses-full-retailers-look-to-store-goods-outside/) The following steps will walk you through how to use the SecurSpace website to book space anytime, anywhere. #### Search Whether you need long-term parking space to offload 1000 containers near the Port of Newark, Savannah, or LA, or you need to find a safe space to park one truck overnight, the SecurSpace search tool can narrow down all of our needs and provide you a list of locations that meet all your criteria and pricing for each yard. ![The SecurSpace search tool makes finding secure truck and equipment parking near you simple.](https://22603220.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/22603220/hubfs/Cherish-SecurSpace/Screenshot%202023-02-22%20at%2012.33.20%20PM.png?width=782&height=271&name=Screenshot%202023-02-22%20at%2012.33.20%20PM.png)   #### Book Once you find a location that suits your needs, click on the profile and select the date, number of spaces, and type of equipment you will be parking. You’ll then be asked to enter your payment information and agree to the yard’s reservation agreement. We then send your request to the listing partner for approval. #### Confirm If the yard accepts your request, your payment will be processed, and we will send a confirmation email. If the yard declines the reservation, we will let you know within 30 minutes so you can quickly switch your request to another yard. As technology transforms the trucking industry, truck-parking software and online reservations are becoming an invaluable tool for any operation that needs to have access to on-demand storage space. While there are still plenty of potholes in the road for trucking companies across the nation, parking doesn't need to be one of them anymore.
